4.5 stars for Scala Leather Cap,
Four and a half stars. I really think this is a great cap. I very much like the leather, the small angle between the cap and the back of the cap, the finish, the quality of the material, the cut, the snappy style, what else can one say about a mere cap ? So, why 4.5 and not 5 stars? Because the makers haven’t apparently worn the cap and seen that when placed on a person’s head, the front part of the top of the cap drops down, allowing the occiput (or dome of the head) to show prominently, too prominently. You can’t see that from the picture but the makers should know better because I have an old cap from them where this “dome” effect is invisible. At the factory, the quality control tester may have noticed that and overcompensated by making the back of the cap a little bit (say 3/4 inch) too deep. Actually, this little problem could easily have been remedied by a stiffer lining. At home, all you need to do is to insert a piece of foam inside the cap and stuffing it over the visor, cut to phase out gently at the very front and near the dome. Sew it in gently, with black indelible thread, using the existing sewing strips to hide the additional sewing. Of course if the wearer has a lot of hair, that will probably be enough to form the necessary padding by itself, but if you do have a lot of hair, why cover it up with a cap?
